The area, which is located about 25 Km from the museum,
to the north of the city is dominated by an outcrop. Cemeteries
from both Iron Age as well as Early Bronze Age are located
on top and foothills of the outcrop. The surrounding area
of Bida Bint Saud witnessed an Iron Age occupation represented
by the discovery of a
mudbrick structure. An irrigation system (falaj) was uncovered
in the region indicating that the region was no less important
than larger oases. Bida Bint Saud is quite popular and worth
a visit, especially, in the late afternoon. Seeing the tombs
and watching the sun set from the top is of a romance. The
paved road runs across red sand dunes, which are still scenic
despite the recent change.
