There are several collective tombs at
Hili, which is located at a distance of about 12 km to the
north of the museum. These tombs go back to the second half
of the third millennium B.C and belong to the Umm an-Nar
Culture. The most important of these tombs, is the Hili
Grand Tomb, which stands in the middle of Hili Archaeological
Park.
Hili tomb is 12 metres in diameter and has been reconstructed.
A small model of it is on display in the museum. The name
has been taken from the area where it is located.
The tomb has two entrances, both are decorated with
human and animal relieves. The most important depictions
are the oryx, an animal indigenous to the region. The museum
logo was taken from this motif. The park is of an interest
and worth a visit as there are interesting things to see;
archaeological and agricultural. Greenery is one of the
things to enjoy at this unique park. The park is open daily
from 4.30 to 9.30 PM. Though closed for the public in the
mornings, visitors are usually allowed to visit the sites.
