Al
Ain museum has a small section allocated to gifts.
The idea of having a gift section was originated
when H.HSheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, president
of UAE forwarded to the museum some gifts that were
presented to him by kings and presidents of other
states.
.Some gifts however were directly
presented to the museum.
The first four showcases of the section display an
interesting collection of archaeological materials
from the Islamic Period. H.H Hafez Al Asad, President
of Syria presented these objects to the museum. A
number of metal objects, pottery, porcelain and glass
from the Ayubi and Mamluk eras are among the collection.
A golden ship
presented by King Juan Carlos of Spain is a gift of
distinction. Among the gifts is a grain of rice bearing
a phrase from the Quran. Other gifts include golden
swords,
silver daggers,
a golden palm tree presented by Sheikh Isa bin Sulman
Al Khalifa the former Emir of Bahrain, a manuscript,
guns and more.
